The crowd was considerable at the abolition of meat stall this past Saturday
afternoon. The anti-bullfighting campaign, held at the
same time, allowed us to draw a large number of people to the stall. Bullfighting fans often blame us for not paying attention to farm animals whose fate is, according to them, much worse than that of
bulls in the arenas. We had the means to respond favorably. Videos filmed in slaughterhouses and factory farms garnered the
typical shudders of horror and allowed us to engage in a debate about this issue with a
large number of people. To the question of the taste of meat ("tastes so good"),
which cames up in almost all of the conversations, we responded that the argument
was very weak when compared with the immense amount of suffering generated by the
meat industry. We placed at the availability of the public a huge
number of tracts and pamphlets as well as a series of books on the rights of animals and
vegetarianism. People could sign petitions for the abolition of meat
as well as L214 petition cards against factory-raised laying hens and caged
rabbits for the supermarkets of the area.

Because meat production involves killing the animals that are eaten,
because their living conditions and slaughter cause them to suffer,
because eating animal products isn't necessary,
because sentient beings must not be mistreated or killed unnecessarily;
therefore, farming, fishing and hunting, as well as selling and eating animal products, have to be abolished.
