7,200,000. This is the staggering number of animals killed in one hour in the world as demonstrated by the giant animal kill counter during the happening on Saturday 1 June organised by 12 activists from the Collectif nantais pour les animaux ("Nantes animal rights group") with the participation of Droits des animaux ("Animal rights", for the World Week for the Abolition of Meat (WWAM). Some passers-by were amazed at the sight of this figure increasing every 10 seconds. Others moved away, deep in thought. Some asked us questions. One little girl could not hold back her tears at the sight of the poster placed on the floor in front of the counter. Maybe she understood what is endured by the 7.2 million animals slaughtered every hour on our planet, after a life of exploitation, to ultimately become: meat. An article was published in the newspaper Ouest France after this action. See the article in French here: http://www.ouest-france.fr/ofdernmin_-Un-compteur-geant-pour-la-fermetur... - Translation of the article coming up soon.

Volunteers: The demand for the abolition of meat needs you!
T-shirts, bags, pins, stickers and flyers
Because meat production involves killing the animals that are eaten,
because their living conditions and slaughter cause them to suffer,
because eating animal products isn't necessary,
because sentient beings must not be mistreated or killed unnecessarily;
therefore, farming, fishing and hunting, as well as selling and eating animal products, have to be abolished.
